New Oral Weight-Loss Pill Foundayo Approved for UK — First in Europe

The MHRA has approved Foundayo (orforglipron), a daily GLP-1 weight-loss pill made by Eli Lilly, for treating obesity and type 2 diabetes. The UK is the first European country to approve it. The pill is expected to be cheaper than existing injections, more convenient (can be taken any time of day, unlike the Wegovy pill), and trials suggest it can help patients maintain weight loss after coming off jabs. NHS availability is not automatic and requires a separate NICE recommendation.
